I read the news today, on my laptop like I do sometimes between patients. Today was different. Today as I laughed about goofy stuff with the girls I worked with, a gunman, 20 years old, walked into a school in Conn. and opened fire in a classroom full of 5 year old children. CHILDREN! BABIES! Children that at 5 years old, knows NO evil. Children that at 5 years old believes in the Easter Bunny, the Tooth Fairy, and Santa Claus.
Today was different.
Today 26 people lost their lives, 20 that were children.
I cant begin to understand. How can one person be so evil. I know there are people that say he was sick, and you know maybe he was but to me and my beliefs, it was PURE EVIL.
I pray for the families, for the children that had to step over their classmates as they rush for safety. I pray for the teachers that held those students close, as if they were their own and guarded them against so much evil and thank God that those children had someone to hold them. For the police officers that rushed into that building, that had no idea what was on the other side.
Today was different.
Today I thank God for my crazy, wild, roller coaster of a ride life with my children. I thank God! Today I am thankful as I read facebook, as I watch the news, that I constantly read or hear Jesus' name and the millions that are praying. Today I am thankful for that. Today, as mad as one of my daughters made me, I hugged her tighter! I hugged them all! I kissed them all! I told them I loved them. And inside I cried because I thought of the parents that couldn't do that.
Today was different.

March 5th
Tomorrow is a very special day! 59 years ago tomorrow God created an amaing woman. Rickie Philpott was born and 17 years ago he brought her into my life! He knew exactly what I needed, a mother. She has been my saving grace for 17 years now and I thank God for her all the time. She has been there from the beginning and has never left my side. She is the best mother I could ask for and the best Nana my children will ever know. She didnt have to be my mother but she wanted to be and she is.
Momma, thank you so much for all that you have ever done for me and my girls! You are an amazing woman! I hope I can be just like you one day! I know our lives are busy and we go 100 miles per hour all the time but never forget that you are very special to me and my girls and we wouldnt be where we are without you!! I love you so much!!

"New Years" New Resolutions!
So New Year means new resolutions for most! I am sure that you will agree that a few of yours are much like mine, the same as last years and the year before that and the year before that! I could go on and on.
This year I started by saying I am going to loose weight, quit cussing so much, be a better parent, be more loving to husband, so many things I thought I was going to do, I failed before midnight New Years night, lol.
So I decided that since I haven't blogged in a while I would let you know that I am not getting off to a rocky start!
I did start my weight watchers plan yesterday and knock on wood so far I am doing great! I cussed a few today but better than yesterday! I fussed with Savannah but I knew I was right and she needed to hear what I had to say, not a great parent but a better parent! My husband, well thats a lost cause, lol, bless his heart, someone has to catch it for all the other stuff!! Maybe tomorrow I will be nicer to him.
I am going to try and blog more maybe more than every 6 months! Who knows! We will see.
Peace Out and God Bless

Life
I know that life is not suppose to be a piece of cake. I know that there are days that you want to just crawl under a rock and not come out. I have those days, lately more and more. I am so thankful that I have good friends that I can vent and unload my problems on bc I know its bc of them I can get through the things I do and dont let me forget the good Lord above. People now days are getting more scarce of speaking about God but if they could spend one week in my shoes, they would know he is real and right beside you.

Rocking the Mini Van
A few days ago I woke up and started my day much like I did when the kids were in school. Since Summer break I have slept in most mornings and was in no hurry to do anything but this day I woke up early, made a pot of coffee and sat in the bed and watched the Today Show.
That morning they had an author on there and the name of her book was "Rocking the Mini Van" and caught my attention. I mean anyone who knows me knows that I drove the "man van" for four years before my dearly beloved took it and I got the "cougar cab". So I was listening to this woman talk about how just because you drive a mini van doesn't mean your old and live is over. I couldn't have agreed with her more. She continued to say that she believes that times have changed and being a mother doesn't mean being the mother from the 50's or 60's. Times have changed. And I agreed, well sort of.
I am a young mother. I made choices when I was very young that changed my life and I have a 15 year old and I am 32. You do the math. But any who. I didn't have the best mother in the world and maybe one day I will share that but you know how you say when I have kids I am not going to be like my mother, well of course I did. Said it a lot. To this day!! But going back to me and being a young mother. I decided that I would talk to my kids and I would be there for them no matter what. My door would always be open to them and to their friends because I honestly think that I am young enough that I still remember all the pressure and crap that goes on while being a teenager, from one end of the spectrum to the other. I know everything....lol. I definitely like to think I do. Now the past few months I have had a chance to spend a lot of time with my kids, their friends, their friends and their friends!! My husband jokes that this house is Grand Central Station because someone is always here.
So I listen to this lady on TV as she is talking about how you have to be a "Modern Mother" and things just aren't what they use to be. And Lord today I have replayed that in my head over and over. Because she is right things aren't what they use to be but I do have to say this, and forgive me if I offend anyone. Just because you want to be a "Modern Mother" does not mean you cant teach your kids manners, morals, ethics, class, compassion for others and my list can go on and on. I like to think that I am a "Modern Mother" and my kids and most their friends know that they can have conversations with me about anything and I do mean ANYTHING. But they know that if I know they don't act right that I will have their tail. I am raising my girls much like they did back in the day with a little twist. But I wish parents would understand or agree that there is nothing wrong with pissing your kids off! Nothing wrong with telling them NO. Nothing wrong with teaching them how to say yes mam or no sir. Nothing wrong with when they do wrong how to apologize for what they did and punish them more than just taking 30 mins off curfew or taking their phones for a few days. Nothing wrong with setting boundries. Nothing wrong with expecting more of them and when they don't deliver you can tell how to do better next time. It is not going to kill them I PROMISE!!!!
I just am having a hard time today swolling how teenagers are today and what this is going to become of this world if "Modern Mothers" or "Mordern Parents" doesn't bring a little of those "good ole days" values back to our children.
God Bless

A Thought
Yesterday I watched my daughter with her boyfriend or friend or whatever it is these teenagers call it these days and I could not believe how much she has grown into this young woman and in less than three years she will be on her own. Hard to believe!!!
I know it is weird but I thank God that I get to watch her grow into this young woman. Not just her but my other girls too. She is just my first and she is the first to drive, will be my first to graduate high school, the first to leave and go to college!! Just hard to believe that she is growing up so fast!
Scary to think you just have to turn them loose into the world and hope and pray that they have learned at least a little from you and that maybe what they have learned from you is the good stuff, not the screaming and yelling and all the negative stuff that surrounds this world already. Just a thought!
Peace Out!

My First Time
Get your mind out of the gutters....LOL. This is my first time blogging. I have been following a few of my friends on their blogs and thought 'I need to try this'. Let me tell you before I even get started good with this, I am not great with grammar so don't expect me to be perfect. I am far beyond perfect.
I guess the whole reason I am going to try to do this is because sometimes you need to just say stuff without having to tell someone. I think about a lot of crazy crap all the time and if you follow this blog then you will probably think that I am scattered......truth is I am. But that is what makes me, me.
